The Weatheralls School
Newsletter - Friday 18th April - Summer Term No. 1
Welcome Back to Everyone. Warm wishes for a happy and successful new term.
New Headteacher
Hello to everyone. I am delighted to be the new Headteacher at The Weatheralls and I look forward to meeting many of you over the coming weeks. I have moved here from not too far away as I have been the Headteacher at Bottisham Primary School for the last 9 years, so I am fortunate to already know all the other local Headteachers and many of the support agency staff that come in to the school. I have spent my first two weeks getting to know the names of most of the staff (quite a challenge as there are so many of them) and I have had a lovely time meeting your children.
If you would like to pop in and introduce yourself please do, or stop me in the playground or classroom when you see me.
I am intending to start a drop-in session for parents and carers – something like once a week on a Monday at about 2.45pm - so that anyone can just pop in to see me about anything. Of course I am also available at many other times or you can telephone the office for an appointment.

Message from Mrs Lant
Dear parents
Thank you so much for the gift vouchers from John Lewis, it was very kind of you. I am really looking forward to having a good browse, I am sure I will find something special to remind me of all of you.
Thank you too for all your support and kindness. I have had such a happy working life teaching in Soham and it has been lovely to meet again, as parents, those people I taught years ago when they were three or four years old.
I will miss you all, but hope to see you when I visit school or perhaps we will ‘bump into’ each other in Tesco.
Thank you again,
Joy Lant
Nestle Box Top Tokens
Reminder please to send in Nestle Box Tops tokens to help us collect more books.
Children’s Centre display board
Parents are invited to come in and see the plans for the new Children’s Centre on a display by the office. As the work starts the display will be updates to let you know what is happening.
Thank you to Mrs Palmer for doing the display.
Summer Fair HSA Meeting
There is a HSA meeting on the 8th May at 7pm to discuss and help plan the Summer Fair.
Reg Collen Cup
Earlier than previous years, the annual Reg Collen Cup will be taking place on Wednesday 23rd April, kicking off at 4:30pm. As I am sure you are all aware this is the climax of the schools football calendar when The Weatheralls take on St. Andrews Primary School. The match will be taking place, as usual, at the Football Club, Julius Martin Lane. Please come and support the team and see if the school can retain the cup for another year!
Congratulations
To –
Alfie Class 2 for gaining his swimming certificate,
Jake Class 4 for Level 4 Swimming
Charlotte Class 3 for Level 4 Swimming
Lucie Class 3 for Level 4 swimming
Lois Class 1 for Level 2 Swimming
Leah class 7 for Level 4 Swimming
Parking
I’ve been in the school for what seems like 10 seconds and I already fully appreciate all the problems you have with dropping off and picking up children at school. The car park is clearly a challenge for us all!
As you will know we have two buses and two taxis dropping children off and picking them up – for which there is a marked bay immediately outside the school. If parents / carers could please not park in this section it would leave the rest of the car park clearer so the bus wouldn’t have to block the roadways around the car park.
Message from The School Office
May I remind parents that school lunches should be paid for on the day or in advance as we can not provide lunches on credit. If you have any concerns, do not hesitate to contact Mrs Bradley. I shall be inviting Parents to lunch with their children shortly. Thank you!
Thank you to parents that telephone the school office to advise of child(ren) absence. May I remind all parents to phone the school office on the first morning of their child’s absence. Thank you.
Diary Dates
Term dates will be included in the next newsletter. If you need any dates urgently please telephone the school office.
